Do you have a child who needs to learn the alphabet? Do they struggle to remember all of the letters and the sounds they make? Well, one great way to teach your child some of the letters, and their uses, is to match them in a song. The following are some great examples of how alphabet songs can teach the letters and the sounds those letters make.
Here are a few examples of alphabet songs that can teach your child letters and give them a word to latch on to that start with those letters:
A is for Actor, B for Ballerina
C is for Clown – So let the show begin!
D is for Daisy, E’s for Evergreen, and
F is for Fuzz on a peaches’ skin!
G is for Gumballs, H is for Hyena
I is for Inchworm, J’s for Jellybeaner!
Kitten’s on the keys, Lion’s last in line,
M is for my Mom who thinks I’ve lost my mind!
CHORUS:
But that’s how I practice my ABC’s
Easily as 1-2-3!
C’mon let’s practice our ABC’s
All you have to do is sing with me:
N is for Nacho, O’s for Onion rings, and
P is for Pizza– Let’s have lunch!
Q’s Quite Delicious, R is for Root Beer
S is for my Stomach that’s much too stuffed!
T is for trumpet, U’s for ukulele
V is for voices singing, “Come On Home, Bill Bailey!”
W’s for Whistle, X for xylophone
Now, let’s you and I Zigzag all the way home!
Another fantastic example of a song that gives you not just the letters, and their order, but also a word that goes with them follows:
It’s A that puts the “a” in apple.
B that puts the “b” in ball.
C that puts the “c” in candle.
D that puts the “d” in doll.
E that puts the “e” in elephant….
… It’s M that puts the “m” monkey.
Chorus:
Hands up. Words are made of sound.
Hands down. Words are all around.
Hands clap. Each letter makes a sound.
Lets get together and learn the letter sounds.
It’s N that puts the “n” in nickle.
O that puts the “o” in otter.
P that puts the “p” in pickle…
…It’s Z that puts the “z” in zebra.
Chorus:
Hands up. Words are made of sound.
Hands down. Words are all around.
Hands clap. Each letter makes a sound.
Lets get together and learn the letter sounds.
If you simply want to teach your child the ABC’s you can always go with the traditional ABC song that ends with the phrase “next time won’t you sing with me?” This is a common way to start off the learning of the ABC’s and you can then later progress to the more complicated songs that also give examples of words that go with the letters.
